Free mobile hot spots for qualifying students are available through the SC Department of Education

Free mobile hot spots for qualifying students are available through the SC Department of Education, in coordination with the SC Office of Regulatory Staff.

Eligibility will be determined using the following guidelines:

  1. At least one child in the home is enrolled as a student in the School District of Newberry County.
  2. Permanent wireless access is not available in the home.  Cellular phone hot spots are not considered permanent.
  3. The gross household income must be at or below the income levels shown in the chart. The chart may be found on the School District website.  (Proof of income may be requested.)

Only one Hot Spot per address is allowed.  If more than one student lives at the same address, only one survey should be completed.  If you are interested in applying, please go to the District website to fill out an application. Approval is based on the criteria and approval from SCDE/SC Office of Regulatory Staff.
