On Tuesday, September 15, Mid-Carolina Cross Country boys and girls traveled to Chester to compete against a large field of runners including Chester, Fairfield-Central, Hawthorne, Midlands Stem Academy, Riverwalk, Lake Pointe, Great Falls, York Prep, and Richard Winn Academy. MC Girls dominated and clenched first place with a team score of 26 points. The team was led by first place finisher, Cameron Wicker (20:02), followed by second place finisher, Claire Hawkins (23:45), and third place finisher, Meredith Koon (24:48 - PR). Other top finishers were Sara Black in 8th place (26:08) and Erica Davis (27:32).
The MC Boys team had a breakthrough performance and won their meet with 38 points, followed by Lake Pointe in second and Fairfield-Central in third. The team leader was Jon Lawson Cope placing second with a PR of 17:53. He was followed by 4th place finisher, Alex Garcia (19:46), 5th place finisher, Michael O'Neil (19:52), and 8th place finisher, David Rodgers (20:20).
The Rebels will travel to Chapin on Wednesday, September 23. Meet location is at Crooked Creek Park. Boys race at 5:00. Girls race at 5:30. Mask up and come support the Rebels.
